Kensho Project is a mental health start-up founded by Ms. Cauviya Madhiyazhagan in December 2019. It is registered under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. The registration number is TN30D0028885. It is a mental health service that aims to provide holistic help for individuals who strives to better their mental health and well-being.
Kensho is a Japanese term, referred to the zen tradition meaning seeing one’s true nature that is the nature of mind. It’s the initial stage of awakening. We believe our Mental Health Service would help you guide and facilitate you to start the journey towards awakening.
We follow integrated/holistic therapeutic methods to address various Psychological problems such as stress, anxiety, depression and ease people to face their problems and thrive in their lives. We help people with autonomous decision-making, self-growth and prevent several issues which hinder self-development.
Kensho Project is an LGBTQ+ ally. We ensure the client feels comfortable and secured.

About Counselor
Cauviya Madhiyazhagan is a qualified Counselor and Consultant Psychologist with 3+ years of experience as a practitioner. She has collaborated with various non-profit organizations as a mentor to help people cope with mental health struggles. She has hands-on experience with people having psycho-social disabilities.
Her expertise is in trauma, marital, work-life balance, and sub-clinical levels of anxiety and depression. She is passionate about providing a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space where you can feel heard and understood. Her approach to helping the individual is collaborative; rooted in openness, honesty, trust, and compassion. She works with clients only after they express their consent.
Education and theoretical orientation
Cauviya has completed a master’s in HRD Psychology (full-time) from the University of Madras and a diploma in Counseling and Guidance with an add-on degree in Yoga for Human Excellence (Bachelor of Arts). She’s a certified mindfulness coach. She is a trauma-informed therapist who practices a person-centered approach. Therapy is provided in both Tamil and English. She exercises an integrated system of therapeutic methods which are mostly based on Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and several techniques of Mindfulness.
Personal details
She’s a Tamilian based in Chennai, India. Her hobbies include bird watching, reading, and painting. If you see her wandering alone you can be pretty sure that she is marveling at something about nature. She is vehement towards animals. She had volunteered for an animal rescue center for few months. She supports contemporary visual artists; of all kinds.
Her passion for Psychology and Mental Health Advocacy stems from her own experience which is severe social anxiety and Selective Mutism.
During crucial times Pro Bono service is also provided.

Informed Consent
We provide counseling only for those who volunteer. We do not coerce or force our clients to avail counseling. It is always the client’s choice to walk in or walk out from a counseling relationship. We explicitly explain the nature of our services to our clients such as for purposes, goals, techniques, procedures, potential risks, and benefits.
Counselor’s competence and referral
When we feel we lack the competence to help the client or the client has a clinical condition we would refer the client to a respective and competent professional.
No Dual Relationship
The relationship between the client and the counselor would be professional. There would be no personal relationship with the client such as friendship or romantic relationship are strictly prohibited. In case of transference or countertransference; the client will be referred to another professional.
